If you’ve always dreamed of defending Greece against Xerxes’ invasions, then step into Leonidas’ shoes as he defends his turf. The quality of the images makes it look a bit like you are watching a movie on HD. There is no real trace of the CGI graphics here, just top notch art.
The protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a descendant of Leonidas. That’s why there are so many flashbacks in the game involving Leonidas. The beginning of the game starts out as a battle scene according to the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Preview and Gameplay.
This battle is around the time of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BCE. Xerxes is away in a route around the mountains and Leonidas’ portion of the Greek army is surrounded. Xerxes had an army of 70 000 to 300 000 men so this battle was epic.
You start your journey on the Isle of Cephalonia in 431 BCE. This is the sixth largest island in Greece. You start off on the island by performing various tasks. Apparently, you have been helping Fagan, a local scam artist, with his quests quite a bit.
Your tasks are all in preparation to you getting on a boat. You are guided through tips to get your story on track in a somewhat linear progression.
All in all, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Preview and Gameplay is enjoyable and a welcome progression from Origins. This game has been 3 years in the works and fans eagerly await the release date on October 5, 2018.
